rehumanise

leadership development for humans

reimagining leadership as relational,

and work as regenerative

Rehumanise was born out of a growing understanding of the ways we've oriented around leadership in the past, and the ways we need to orient around leadership to navigate future challenges.

Our work is based on a relational and curious model of learning and collaborating. We work as collectives to share, develop, explore and unearth new understandings of the world. Our workshops are experiential and embodied - so you have a chance to explore and deepen understanding on a range of levels.

The values we centre in our work are aroha, curiosity, joy and relationality.

Let's connect, one messy, real, human to another - explore ideas together, learn from each other, and cultivate spaces where we can truly rest, learn, grow, and find new ways forward in your leadership and in your life.

Meet Your Nervous System

Next session 16 Oct: learn more and register here

Many of us live our lives in a state of rush, busy, overwhelm, or even chaos, which can hold us in a near-perpetual state of stress.  In this context, our body’s autonomic nervous system works hard to keep us safe by identifying risk and danger, and shifting us into states like fight, flight, or freeze. This is an amazing safety mechanism for us - our body is often doing exactly what we need to stay safe and well.

However, being able to access a sense of safety, connection, curiosity and spaciousness even amidst all the swirl can make a huge difference to how we show up in the world - with others, and in ourselves.

This workshop offers an opportunity to learn more about your nervous system in an experiential, embodied way. You’ll build an understanding of what the nervous system is and how it works. More importantly, you’ll spend time learning to notice your own state and to reflect on what helps you personally regulate yourself back towards a state of calm.

The skills, tools, and ideas you’ll gather in this workshop are useful for all humans - wherever you are, your nervous system is right there with you. Come learn some of the basics and start to build a relationship with your own nervous system.

Hosted by The Pākehā Project:

Being Tangata Tiriti:
A Pākehā Project Taster

A one-day workshop exploring the beautiful restorative work of being tangata Tiriti in Aotearoa.

Who can we be for each other?

———————

We live in discombobulating times. And cracks are showing everywhere. So much that we thought was secure is shifting and changing.

But here in Aotearoa, we have an extraordinary pou—Te Tiriti o Waitangi. So much more than a legal document; we feel it in our bones. Over decades and decades, Māori have cared for and carried its promise for all of us, tangata whenua and tangata Tiriti alike. It offers us a framework for living together in our difference, in mutually enriching ways. This is gold.

Join Rebecca and Becky from The Pākehā Project for this one-day workshop exploring the mahi we as tangata Tiriti can do in the journey towards a Tiriti-led future. We invite you into a space for gently inquiring into your unique place in the system rewiring itself. How do we show up where Māori are calling us to be? We'll be exploring relationality and worldview; the nervous system as map for working with activation; systemic racism, the orthodox Western worldview—its whakapapa and how it shows up in ourselves, our systems and society; and our roles in restorative systems change for a Tiriti-based future. It will be interactive, embodied, and nourishing.

Let's create lifeboats of coherence in this turbulent world.

Next workshop 30th October - register here!

calling those who rehumanise

Are you a leader currently trying to work in a humanising and relational way? Do you find that sometimes it feels like you're swimming against the tide? Rehumanise is gathering leaders who are interested in rehumanising leadership, leading in a more humanising or relational way, or wanting to better create spaces where the people around them can show up as their full human selves.

We are offering a four session leadership lab aimed at creating spaces where you can work with other humanising leaders to deepen your own understanding and leadership practice. This is part support network, part learning journey, part self-exploration.  Each session is 2 - 2.5 hours long and we will meet fortnightly. During the journey, we will practice meeting as humans, we will do some exploration into our nervous systems and embodied ways of showing up in the world, we will have all the chats about interesting ideas, and we will spend time in self-reflection and in deep dialogue. Our collective wisdom, space, and time is all we need to find our way into different ways of working.

Topics will be driven by the group. What part of your people leadership role feels least human? Where do you see opportunities for radically inclusive and human-centred shifts in your leadership? What tricky puzzle piece do you want to examine with a group of others dedicated to leading as humans? We might deep dive into topics such as recruitment, development, performance management, one-on-ones, team meetings, project planning, or any number of other spaces - wherever humans are, there is a need to explore more human-friendly ways of working.

The cost of the learning lab four-session journey is $220, and numbers are capped at a maximum of 10 participants.

If you think this might be for you, please email me at info@rehumanise.nz to find out more.

other offerings

Beyond the very fun workshops above, I can also help in a range of other ways

Facilitation

I offer facilitation services focused primarily on humanising the workplace (obviously), but this can span a wide range of focus areas.

Want to dig into the emotional culture of your team? Want to get something really productive done, but in a restorative way? Want to build deeper, trust-based relationships across your team?

As a facilitator I get curious about what you want to happen, and I'll work iteratively and collaboratively with you to shape up a day that's both delightful and value-full.

I am trained in a number of different facilitation approaches, including Liberating Structures and the Emotional Culture Deck.

Coaching

Relational leadership and the rehumanisation of work are transformational ways of moving through the world.

But they're not everywhere (yet), and trying to lead in a new way can be really challenging - 'values burnout' is a real thing.

One on one support can be really useful for feeling less alone, testing ideas, working through barriers, and resourcing yourself to sit in spaces that don't already understand how you lead.

Process and Policy Review

I can work with you to explore current processes and policies within your organisation, and how you might shift them to be more relational, more humanising, more person-centred.

For example, perhaps you want to work with your recruitment process and how to make this a more welcoming experience for your candidates. Perhaps you want to review or introduce policies around working from home, part time work, and so on. I can support you to find ways to make your organisation's approaches more human, in ways that will actually work in your context.

Training & Workshops

Short, specific workshops focused on building a specific skill for a group. Topics offered include:
 - emotional culture
 - communicating through conflict
 - receiving feedback (the secret weapon of leaders everywhere!)

If there's something else you are looking for, and it seems like it's relevant to allowing humans space to exist at work - let's chat! Maybe that can be next on my list for development :)

about rehumanise

Kia ora! I'm Becky - the human behind the rehumanise name.

I'm Tangata Tiriti, based in Ōtautahi, with roots stretching back through Aotearoa and the USA, back to England, Ireland, Scotland, and Russia.

I've spent my entire life fascinated by humans and how they human, in and out of work. I believe that so many of the challenges we face today cannot be met without our systems and cultures moving towards a more equitable, collective, relational, and humble way of seeing the world.

I'm committed to exploring how I can support other people to learn and unlearn towards deeper connections, more spaciousness, wild curiosity, and the ability to sit with discomfort.

If you're after my professional qualifications, here's a taster:
 - over a decade of leadership roles in the public sector and small business
 - Masters of Science in Applied Industrial and Organisational Psychology
 - Graduate of the Pākehā Project
 - Certificate in the Foundations of NeuroLeadership and Brain-Based Conversation Skills, NeuroLeadership Institute
 - Certified ECD Emotional Change Practitioner
 - current student of Healing Centred Systems Change and Haumanu practices

I'd love to meet you and talk further, so if you're curious to know more, keep scrolling just a bit, and you'll get to a contact form!

I'm curious about you!

If you're at all curious about the idea of rehumanising the workplace, let's connect over coffee, email, a phone call, etc.

can tell you about the services I offer, in case that's something you're interested in, but I'm mostly interested in meeting others with similar ambitions for the world - so I'd love to hear from you even if you already know you're not going to be a "customer".
